Carman Country Fair

The second weekend of July

The Carman Country Fair has been a Manitoba tradition since 1879 and is considered one of the oldest running fairs in Manitoba. It is held annually on the second weekend of July.

Each year’s activities and stands included in the fair are motorsports, home displays, exhibits, livestock showcases, arts and crafts, activities for kids, livestock demonstrations, vendors, a midway, free stage entertainment, and more.

Carman is an agricultural town, and the fair is a display to show how important agricultural awareness is.

Dufferin Historical Museum

The Dufferin Historical Museum was originally built in 1959. The museum’s purpose is to preserve for prosperity artifacts and records of historical interest which show the ways of life that predecessors of Carmen lived. The museum has early 1900’s furniture, clocks, early wedding dresses, tools, coins, weapons, household items, toys, and a pianola.

As well as the museum, there are two preserved buildings that tourists can visit. One of these buildings is a log house from the 1870s. The second building is the Boyne School No. 21. This building was restored and shows the life of country school children in a one-room schoolhouse. Both of these buildings are Manitoba Designated Heritage buildings.

Bell Aura Bed, Breakfast and Bistro

Recommended by Mariyam Sardar and Darla Chloe Daniva, MacEwan University

Bell Aura Bed, Breakfast and Bistro is a historic building that was formerly a church built in 1898. It was converted into a B & B stay that can accommodate at least 25+guests. It has nice antiques, stained glass windows, and art installation pieces throughout the place.

It also offers relaxing activities like yoga, meditation, reading nooks, tea room, peaceful sitting rooms and lounges. It also serves breakfasts and also has catering services for more exceptional events. It is a great place to enjoy an overnight stay with breakfast and learn more about the historic building.
