The Paris Port Dover Pipe Band

05

Experience two places in one by visiting The Paris Port Dover Pipe Band, a St. George-based music group focused on Scottish music. The band not only performs events (including weddings, if that’s what you’re looking for!) but also offers free group training for young people wanting to learn how to play Scottish music.

Over the years, the band has acquired several accolades, including second place at the Calgary Stampede in 2004 and fourth place at the 2007 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2010, the band even played with Sir Paul McCartney at the Air Canada Centre. Learning from The Paris Port Dover Pipe Band, you wouldn’t just be learning from the best; you may even get to play with them! The band offers group lessons to those wanting to learn and allows students to perform with them. At a cost, they offer one-on-one lessons to students wishing to hone their Scottish music skills. The band does not have a permanent location, but it can be found at the Memorial Hall on Wednesday nights 7 pm-9 pm for their show band practices or Thursday nights 7 pm-9 pm for competition band practices.
