When they opened the doors to their tiny red-brick brewery in Toronto’s famed Distillery District in the winter of 2002, their tale officially began. Original Organic Lager, the first organic beer ever brewed in Canada, was created with an eco-friendly mindset. Soon after, they made an impression on intrepid craft consumers with Tankhouse Ale, a historically avant-garde brew. When they reached their modest brewhouse’s capacity in 2006, they decided to expand the brewery and turn the existing brewery building into a brewpub. In an old, historic gristmill on the banks of the Ottawa River, they launched a second brewpub in 2012.
