Kings County Museum

The local museum is run by the Kings County Historical and Archival Society, a non-profit organization that spreads the history of Hampton. The museum exhibits the town’s history, genealogy research, artifacts and heritage documents. The exhibitions include a fireplace mantel from Ryan’s Castle, Queen’s Jubilee, past typewriters, Indigenous artifacts, and more for you to discover!

Additionally, you can visit the County Gaol jail next door and explore the time through the environment and artifacts found within. They also have a bookstore, where visitors can purchase books on the extensive local history. Visit Kings County Museum to learn about the culture of old Hampton!

Belding Hill Farms

The Belding Hill Farms is owned by Luke & Jill, who were raised on a farm and prides themselves in educating others about farm life. People can come to the farm to meet the various farm animals while learning about the importance of the food chain in nature. Guests can snuggle with the baby animals and take pictures, a great way to boost your mood during any vacation!

Osprey Adventures

From June to August

The Osprey Adventures offers kayak, canoe, and SUP boat rentals for guests of all ages that want to observe and paddle their way through the Kennebecasis River! While paddling, you will be surrounded by a freshwater marsh inhabited by many wildlife species. 

The launching site is by the Lighthouse River Centre, where people are taught basic kayaking etiquette before starting their adventure exploring the River! If you do not feel comfortable paddling, they also provide guided tours on their Voyageur canoe. Experience the opportunity of a lifetime and immerse yourself in the nature of the local area!

Quilt Barn Tour

The Quilt Barn Tour brings guests down the rural paths of the town to discover many local artisans and artists, farmer’s markets, a winery, and several historical sites! There are 23 painted quilt blocks on buildings such as barns, a church, artisan shops, and historical stops.

Each painted quilts represent different establishments and traditions of old times past. It is a great attraction to experience if you want to learn more about the traditional craftsmanship of the local area! Visit the rural roads of Hampton to discover all 23 painted quilts!

Kennebecasis River

This river runs for about 95 km through Southern New Brunswick, its name meaning “little long bay place.” When it comes to the Hampton area, there is a 15.9 km trail along the Kennebecasis River that people can challenge to enjoy the river’s natural beauty. The trail takes approximately 5 hours to complete, and visitors can participate in birding, fishing, and water sports.

The Hampton river trail is pet friendly, although dogs are recommended to stay on a leash. The time of year to partake in the natural habitat and take a walk on the lengthy trail are from May to October. Spend a sunny day along the Kennebecasis River and have fun with all your travel companions!

Historic Homes Walking Tour

This beautiful tour is offered by the town of Hampton and allows visitors to experience some of the historic homes and buildings of the town. Some locations include the Lighthouse River Centre, Captain Earle House, Flewwelling House, the Old School House, and many more! 

The tour starts at the Lighthouse River Centre and ends at the Green Bridge, which overlooks the Kennebecasis River. This tour is a perfect opportunity for anyone to learn about the incredible history and stories of the past! Admire the buildings that withstood many obstacles and still stand tall today!

Home Town of John Peters Humphrey

John Peters Humphrey (1905-1995) was a legal scholar, and human rights advocate born in the town of Hampton. He is the main author of the first draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He taught law at McGill University in Montreal, was made an officer of the Order of Canada in 1974, and was a director at the United Nations’ Division of Human Rights. He became involved in various human rights covenants in Canada to protect people’s rights. Additionally, he was also a key member that helped launch Amnesty International in Canada.

He received various awards for his efforts and accomplishments, with the John Humphrey Freedom Award in his name being presented each year.

A memorial was built in his honour in 2008, found on the front lawn of the Hampton Town Hall a few hundred yards from the house where he originally grew up. His legacy has paved the way for many international movements on human rights, changing history.

Dutch Point Trails

The park is a swooping 30-acre and open all year round to the public. It is adorned with a playground, the Ron Mahoney Memorial Ball Field, and the entrance to Hampton’s portion of the Trans Canada trail! For those wishing to visit in the winter, they have Erb’s Hill, which is a popular winter sliding spot. 

People can hike various trails surrounding the park, with varying difficulties to accommodate everyone. Some easier trails include the Great Trail, Erb’s Trail, and Pendergrass Trail. Meanwhile, some more difficult trails near the park are the Haden Hill’s Trail, Wetmore’s Trail, and Coleman’s Trail. All trails are pet-friendly, perfect for a day of cycling or hiking. Spend a day with the family at the park or embrace the local trails!

Spooner Island Rotary Nature Park

This beautiful small island is located near the Hampton Marsh, known as the Ossekeag Creek wetlands. The area has an abundant history, where the Maliseets people lived in harmony with Acadians until the Loyalists arrived in 1783. The island takes its name from the Spooner Family, who was the last to live on the island. It was later bought by the Rotary Club and turned into a nature park. 

Various activities are available at the Rotary Nature Park, such as hiking and cycling trails, nature lookouts, walking trails, and much more! Visitors can also go bird watching at the gazebo or take photos of the local wildlife. The space is well-maintained by staff, featuring various ponds and marshes adorning the side of the trail roads. Pets are welcome, so long as they are kept on a leash. Enjoy yourself as the breathtaking nature of Spooner Island submerges you!

The Firefly Forest offers overnight and seasonal campgrounds for campers while providing a 260-yard driving golf range and 18-hole miniature golf. The grounds adorn a recreation center, playground, pool, and picnic area. Kredl’s Corner Market

This local corner market opened its doors in 1980, selling local grocery store products from farms to locals and tourists. Some of their various products include fruits, vegetables, meat, preserves, 60+ flavours of ice cream, nursery items, mulch and soil, and much more. This location provides organic foods, gluten-free, and vegan options as well. 

They pride themselves in offering clients fresh foods from over 150 local farmers and vendors. Just like any other grocery store, they have a bakery and butcher within the market. Their team is friendly and can inform you about the ingredients used in their products. They occasionally host events and social fundraising for the town. Station 33 Cafe & Yoga

This quaint little cafe offers clients coffee that has been locally roasted by brewers, along with baked products made in the store using local ingredients. They are pleased to bring a sense of community to all visitors, with its friendly staff at your service. Burgers at Busters

This food trailer has been around since summer 2016 and comes around every summer, enjoyed by both local families and visitors. This restaurant uses local ingredients to make its tasty homemade burgers and fries. The staff is known to be very friendly and provide great customer service. Their menu includes Buster chicken burgers, portobello burgers, haddock with chips, poutines, and more. You can even build your burger to your liking! Eat a wonderful meal at the Burger at Busters trailer in the summer!
