Bonne Bay Marine Station

04

The Bonne Bay Marine Station is a research and teaching venue focusing on educating visitors on the biology and ecology of marine life. The station has a public exhibit which showcases local marine flora and fauna. Visitors can also join a tour led by an interpreter who will guide them through the local marine life.

  1. Bonne Bay Marine Station was advertised all over Newfoundland as open seasonally until Sept 22, 2023. Unfortunately, however, it was a huge let down when we drove all the way there from Gander on Sept. 14th only to find a small sign on the door that said ‘Closed for the Season’. This was different than the info in websites and all the info centres we checked ahead of traveling. Such a shame – our 12 year old daughter was hugely disappointed, and visiting from BC we’re not likely to get a chance to visit again anytime soon. I really recommend Bonne Bay Marine Centre and Memorial University update their websites and the Newfoundland tourist board with their current Marine Centre open and closed seasons dates, so others don’t have to be similarly disappointed after such a long drive or when visiting from out of province/country.
