Bassano Dam

Construction of the dam began in 1910, and it was only after four years, in 1914, that the construction was completed. The total construction cost of the dam was well over $1.4 million at the time. The dam would then be acquired by a group of farmers in 1935 who formed the Eastern Irrigation District. After 70 years of construction, the dam underwent rehabilitation due to deterioration.

Please stop near the beautiful dam and take photos of it as you go through Bassano!

Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park

The Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park is home to the historic site of the Treat No.7 signing, making it of both national and international historical significance. It is a designated national heritage site. The actual building design represents a vast range of Blackfoot cultures, such as everyday scared icons and the everyday life of the Siksika people. For example, the Eagle Feather Fan in the entrance represents the sacredness of the eagle in religion and ceremonies.

The historical park also offers visitors a gift shop they can browse, a cafeteria with on-site dining, and a conference center. They also provide visitors with the unique opportunity to stay in their on-site tipi village.
