fairmont hotel mont tremblant

I know we don’t live in Paris where there are french pastries in every corner you walk by, but Quebec is close enough! When you hear people talk about France you hear about all the amazing pastries and deserts they enjoy and I’m sure you’re thinking why can’t we have that in Canada. I’m here to tell you that Quebec has it all!

Experiencing the culture and food is practically the best part of travelling to new places. French culture is beautiful and eating good food and desserts is at the heart of that. Here are three bakeries that you must visit for authentic french pastries the next time you visit Quebec:

1. Paillard

If you’re looking for good family time outside on the patio with delicious pastries and coffee then you need to visit pillard immediately! It can be difficult to gage what you want but thankfully Paillard provides a large variety of options. 4 types of pastries that they are known for are nutella cookies, chocolate croissants, marzipan, and dolce de leche filled croissants. Their specialty is definitely croissants so if you’re on the hunt for the perfect croissant Paillard is the bakery for you.

2. Cafe La Maison

French pastries and coffee shops aren’t just about the baked goods, it’s also about the atmosphere and experience. It’s been described as charming with excellent service. The architecture of this shop is very reminiscent of France and that’s part of what entices you to walk through the door. Furthermore, it is known to have excellent coffee which pair perfectly with their huge fluffy croissants. Cafe La Maison is also known for having truly exceptional macarons but not only that, they come in so many unique flavours but just to name a few here are some that really stand out:  salted caramel, hazelnut, lime and creme brulee.  If you want to have delicious French pastries and experience the Parisian atmosphere you need to check Cafe La Maison out!

3. Baguette & Chocolat

I know you must be confused as to why Crepes haven’t been mentioned yet because we can’t talk about French desserts without mentioning crepes! Baguette & Chocolat has the most divine crepes that come in different flavours and big portions! So be sure to bring friends along and make a social event out of it. However it doesn’t stop there, they also have excellent coffee, bread and other pastries. To summarize, everything here is delicious and you won’t be disappointed! If you’re in dire need of the French pastry experience then Baguette & Chocolat is the place for you!

All three of these bakeries have something to offer depending on what you’re looking for but if what you need is authentic French pastries that take you back to Paris then none of these places will disappoint!
