Witless Bay Ecological Reserve

Witless Bay Ecological Reserve is a nature preservation site. The site contains four islands, Gull, Green, Great, and Pee-Pee, each with a large variety of bird life. The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve is most well-known for its puffin population. The site has the largest amount of Atlantic puffins in North America. When visiting, it is almost guaranteed to be able to see a puffin.

Ecotours Zodiac Adventures

Ecotours Zodiac Adventures is a boat tour and whale-watching service located in Witless Bay. The service provides tours for visitors to see whales and puffins on various islands. Along with animals, visitors can also observe the jagged and unique Newfoundland coastline. Each tour lasts around an hour and a half, with multiple tours each week.

Gatherall’s Puffin and Whale Tours

Gatherall’s Puffin and Whale Tours is a tour service providing customers with tours to see various whales and puffins. Popular whales to see are humpback whales, and if lucky, visitors can sometimes see killer whales alongside the boat.

The boat also moves along the coastline, allowing visitors to see puffins and the unique cliffs of the Newfoundland coastline.

La Manche Village Path

La Manche Village Path is a hiking trail across a beautiful suspension bridge. The trail is approximately 6.4km trail on a relatively flat path. The trail should take around 2 hours to complete and is fairly easy and suitable for beginners. Along the trail, hikers can observe the beautiful Newfoundland coastline and cross a suspension bridge overlooking the water.

Spout Path

Spout Path is a hiking trail featuring a “spout,” a wave-powered geyser located in the trail’s center. The trail is quite challenging and is suitable for more advanced hikers with proper equipment. It is around 16.4km long with very rugged terrain and climbs. Along the path, there are various waterfalls, a lighthouse, sea cliffs, and sea stacks, making the hike very rewarding.

Mickeleen’s Path

Mickeleen’s Path is a hiking trail known for overlooking the seaside cliffs of Newfoundland. The trail weaves through forests, and there is a steady climb along a cliff where visitors can see red sandstone cliffs, sea stacks, whales, and much more. The hike is roughly 7.2km long and should take 2-4 hours. Although not a difficult trail, hikers should have appropriate footwear and equipment.

Tinker’s Point Path

Tinker’s Point Path is a beachside hiking trail featuring wooden paths and shore and island views. The trail is perfect for picnicking and bird and whale watching, with many sections where visitors can access the beach and swim in the water. It is around 5km long and should take approximately 1-2 hours to complete, with the wooden paths and flat trail making it relatively easy to complete.
