Cass Bridge Conservation Area

A scenic park in Winchester is known for its tranquillity and green beauty. The river it sits on is perfect for boating across or even just looking at from the docks. It is a nice stopover for those travelling through. It has picnic areas and a play structure for children.

The conservation area received its name from the bridge it houses the Cass bridge. It was opened in the spring of 1983 for public use. It is 2.6 acres long and wide to be used for various activities depending on the visitors’ desires. It is open from May to October!

Old Town Hall

A classic and historical building in the town. Built in 1904 for a price tag of $5,000, this building has served many titles over history. From 1906-1961 it was the library but also during the 20s, it showcased plays, movies and other forms of entertainment. As if this building couldn’t do anything else, it was also the local jail for 65 years. If you tour the building, you can still see evidence of old jail cells.

Now, the hall regularly houses a theatre group and “A Night at the Movies” event. It is a piece of history all visiting will want to check out when visiting the area.

Winchester Dairyfest

August

A yearly festival during summer around early August is held close to heart in Winchester. The website calls itself to fun for the whole family, with various events for children and adults alike. In addition to these events, they also offer a Dairy Dance with local bands performing.

I highly recommend it to those who love small-town festivals and their uniqueness. The Dairyfest is also run purely by volunteers and can be a way to engage with the local community. Those within Winchester love the festival and look forward to it each year. Their website is full of events that are held within Dairyfest.

The Winchester Market

A local Sunday market offering a variety of goods for purchase. They offer fresh-grown fruits and vegetables from local farms. If you like shopping locally for produce and other things, you will want to stop by the market. Their produce changes depending on seasonal availability and what independent farmers grow.

They are always incorporating new kinds of vendors into their market, so you are never guaranteed to see the same products! I recommend checking it out if you love shopping locally and the feel of small markets.

Lions Pavilion

A smaller attraction is geared toward those looking to enjoy a quiet pavilion or host events. Located right in the middle of Winchester, it is within proximity to a park and has electrical and water amenities for those setting up their events. The public in Winchester regards it as a beautiful pavilion and one of the best places to hold events for families and children.

They also offer a playground for children to utilize, including a skate park. It’s highly accessible for visitors with wheelchair-accessible entrances. It is part of the 100 club park and is closely connected to these other amenities.

North Dundas Parade of Lights

December

A yearly event in Winchester that locals look forward to. A wide parade of lights passes through Winchester and amazes the public. In addition to the parade, they also host family events throughout the day.

In addition to these events, you can also support local businesses with their vendor show—the perfect way to get meaningful local gifts for those on your list. A lovely family event to attend to show the Christmas spirit and get ready for the holidays.
