Glass Town of Canada

From 1895–1999, the town was known for its glass-making industry. In 1894 the Sydenham Glass Company began. The factory closed in 1999.

Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing

August

WAMBO (Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing) is one of Canada’s largest transportation shows. The show features Antique Boats, Antique, Classic & Specialty Cars, Fire Trucks, & Motorcycles. Other popular displays include Models & Toys, Art in the Park and Product / Direct Sales.

Enjoy your choice of entertainment at various locations around the town of Live Music, Karaoke, a Soap Box Derby & Fire Truck Parades, and a Dream Cruise of Classic Cars. Refreshments are plentiful with food, snacks and beverages all around town and a licensed tent at the main stage.

Wallaceburg & District Museum

This museum holds rich and local history in glass, industry, marine, and much more. Tourists and locals visit to learn about the city of Wallaceburg. Celebrate this rich history through the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame, the sports room, industrial room, glass gallery, art gallery, research room, toy room, and other unique exhibits.

In 1878, James Paris Lee and his brother John perfected a rifle with a box magazine in Wallaceburg. This rifle later became an antecedent to the famous Lee–Enfield rifle. A well-trained gunman could fire approximately 15-30 shots a minute. The prototype was tested successfully in Wallaceburg and is currently housed at the Wallaceburg and District Museum.

Shiloh Park Campground & Marina

This is considered the best campground and marina in the Chatham-Kent Area, Southwest of Ontario. Shiloh Park Campground & Marina provides a year-round trailer park, mobile home park, and boat docks.

It is a family-run business on the Chenail Ecarte river that offers seasonal recreational camping. Some on-site activities include fishing, swimming, birdwatching, boating, or having a campfire. There is also a church and garden on site. The campground also hosts firework shows for its visitors in August.

Wallaceburg Farmer’s Market

The Wallaceburg Farmer’s Market in Downtown Wallaceburg runs bi-weekly from the spring to the fall, from June until October. The market is available every second Saturday from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

Products available for purchase are honey, produce, maple syrup, meat, pizza, and much more. They are constantly updating their vendors, which you can view on social media. Buy some fresh and delicious strawberries, or start your day with a homemade breakfast wrap. Come stop by and support local!

Wallaceburg Sycamore Woods

Wallaceburg Sycamore Woods is a protected forest in Ontario situated near Aar-Kel Tool and Die. Sycamore Woods was created in 2005 by Sydenham Field Naturalists. There was a land parcel for sale, and these field naturalists worked with the municipality of Wallaceburg to save the forest with the help of a fundraising campaign.

Volunteers and club members have planted native shrubs and wildflowers. Visitors may join outings scheduled for the Sydenham Field Naturalists team if given the honourable opportunity.

The Stubby Goat is a bar and restaurant in Wallaceburg that focuses on fresh food and a beautiful atmosphere. While also fresh, they focus on nutritious and delicious meals to provide for their customers. They have unique dishes, including smoked brisket, baked beans, and dill pickle pasta salad. The Black Goose Grill

Another good eats in Wallaceburg is this gem of a grill, The Black Goose Grill. This bar/restaurant provides “large portions and small prices.” They offer catering as well and have a dinner theatre. Enjoy two homemade soups and a fresh salad bar every day.

Another great special is Wallaceburg’s Original No-Wait Lunch, freshly prepared for you. They have delicious items like the Canuck Burger or a simple but tasty nacho platter available to order. They even have all-you-can-eat options! The patio atmosphere is also a view you do not want to miss, situated on the north bank of the Sydenham River.
