Tumbler Ridge is home to UNESCO Global Geo Park.
The history was made when the discovery of dinosaur tracks in 2000 by two local boys while playing along Flatbed Creek, led to major fossil and bone discoveries from the Cretaceous Period.
The Geo Park shows British Columbia’s first Dinosaur bone beds, first Tyrannosaur skull, only known Tyrannosaur trackway in the world, and more than 100 dinosaur tracks and footprints which are nearly 135 to 70 million years old.
This gallery showcases the region’s heritage including fossils that are unique to Tumbler Ridge. Visit to see and learn about dinosaur fossils and ongoing research. Here you can see very rare Tyrannosaur footprints and fossil fish specimens.
Opened in 2007, it is only the gallery of its kind in British Columbia. Must watch all the presentations which tell the story of dinosaur discoveries around the region. You can also see the full-scale paleontological exhibits.

“At the mouth of Babcock Mountain, these unique Geological formations are quite unlike anything else in the world. The Shipyard consist of a series of gravity-defying rock towers. The titanic, much like its name, is a massive rock that resembles the sinking ship. These breath-taking rock formations make you feel like you’re on top of the world.”
The boulders and rock formations are super cool to look at and climb on. It is truly a unique place. The trail is clearly marked, signs are well placed and informative, the hike is easy with surprisingly few steep inclines. Â The rock structures are unlike anything you had ever seen before. Favourite spot for locals for Rock climbing and Hiking in summer, Snowshoeing in Winters.

Kinuseo Falls is a highlight of Monkman Provincial Park. Above the falls, the folding and faulting which occurred with the uplift of the Rockies millions of years ago can be seen as an “S” curve on the far wall.
Tumbler Ridge is the abode of tons of Waterfalls. Some are just a short walk, and some are 3-4 days hike into woodland. You will experience how forces have carved out these wonders.
Great place for a lunch stop, easy hilly walk.
At low water, you can approach right to the brink and sit on the exposed rock or go below to examine the geology next to it. Flatbed falls is a very quick hike off the road just outside Tumbler Ridge on Flatbed creek and is a great short hike with kids. The flatbed creek is usually slow-moving and warm, making it ideal for splashing and cliff jumping on hot summer days.
Guided evening lantern tours are best to illuminate tracks less visible by day.

Quality Falls drops 7 meters over a resistant sandstone layer, with softer rocks below the ledge. The trail drops down to the creek level in a series of switchbacks which lets you get a better view of the falls.
The rocks at Quality Falls are in the Kaskapau Formation and are about 95 million years old, from the early part of the Late Cretaceous Period.
Martin Falls is a 0.8 kilometre lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Chetwynd, British Columbia that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. There are two sets of falls, approximately 5 m and 7 m tall. You can hike out onto the creek bed below one set of falls and above the other.
The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Bergeron falls hosts one of the highest waterfalls in BC. With an over 100m plunge into a horseshoe-shaped bowl at the bottom, the waterfall is a spectacular sight to behold.
The first 500 metres of the trail are shared, after which there is a fork: cliffs to the left, falls to the right.
Lake Joan is a most attractive lake, inside Monkman Park, and a short hiking trail leads past Canary Falls to its tranquil shores, where moose and other wildlife are frequently seen.
