Parc Regard-sur-le-Fleuve

Take a morning stroll along the St. Lawrence river on the Parc Regard-sur-le-fleuve. The vibrant sunset and ombre sunrise view are just breathtaking to glare at. There are many accommodations near the park if visiting the area for a couple of days. The park has a view of a harbour dock for a hazing view of boats passing by in the summertime. During the winter, the park is still accessible, with the pathways cleaned for walkers and cyclists daily to ensure they enjoy their day relaxing in the park.

If you enjoy sunny nature-filled sceneries, this is your ideal spot in town, filled with stunning views and plenty of areas to unwind.

Biophare

Biophare is a dynamic cultural museum and cruise that is dedicated to the Lac-Saint-Pierre Biosphere Reserve, which is also recognized by UNESCO for its natural and historical features. This museum allows you to explore the cultural heritage of the Sorel-Tracy and Saint-Pierre areas, not to forget the scenic views as it lays on the mouth of the enchanting St.Lawrence river.

 

There are two main activities that the museum offers to its visitors. The first is a nature hike in the abundant Lake Saint-Pierre archipelago that runs for three hours, from 9 am to 1:30 pm. The next activity is a historical hike on the Richelieu river for a 90-minute duration, departure is regularly at sunset, and the activity costs $26 per person.

Carré Royal

An urban lush green park in the heart of Sorel-Tracy, Carré Royal is a classified heritage site with a rich history. The location initially served as a place of arms from 1780 to 1860 and was converted into the present-day park in the late 1800s.

 

The park houses many walking paths lined with mature trees and plenty of greenery. The paths together form a plane which represents the Union Jack. In the winter, the park houses an outdoor ice skating rink. The park is also pet friendly!

Statera – The 104th Island

Parc régional des Grèves

The perfect spot for an evening stroll, the Parc régional des Grèves is open all year round. It is an airy, vast and nature-filled park with silence filling the atmosphere while the critters chirp, creating the perfect surroundings to relax and connect. The park is along the St. Lawrence river and hosts a wide range of wildlife. The park also houses 14 kilometres of trails. The park connects two ends through a footbridge and has a few interpretation stations detailing the nature and history of the park.

There is also an observatory here. Don’t miss out on a serene experience at the Parc régional des Grèves.

Governors’ Cottage

This next destination is for people who want to travel back in French history! A beautiful 18th-century construction, the Governors’ Cottage is a designated National Historic Site.

 

Built in 1781 by Sir Frederick Haldimand, the house possesses a rich regional history as it was used as a residence during the war by the commander-in-chief and later as a summer residence. The one-and-a-half-storey traditional Quebec-style house was turned into the Governor’s Cottage Exhibition Center in April 1990. This historical treasure is a must-visit!

Centre des arts contemporains du Québec à Sorel-Tracy

This next spot is for all artists and art connoisseurs who cherish creativity and culture. The Center des arts contemporains du Québec à Sorel-Tracy is managed by a non-profit organization that has been an arts advocate for the region for decades.

 

The center itself opened up to the public in June 2022 and worked to create an inclusive and diverse hub for contemporary art. Pushing artists to experiment and research unique ways to approach and practice art, the center houses many innovative works. They also host various exhibitions, events, performances and conferences.
