White Lake Wilderness Area

Established in the 1990s, this area is meant to preserve Nova Scotia’s rugged terrain and carved landscapes clad with tall evergreens. This area has beautiful, dense trails filled with wildlife and fresh, breezy air.

Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum

Narrating the history of Nova Scotia’s railways, Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum is a heritage hub in the community. Built in a restored Canadian Northern Railway station from 1918, this one-storey museum houses many exhibits, an information center, a gift shop, a food truck, a beer garden, and an ice cream stand beside its picnic area. Exhibits display things like posters, tickets, maps, photographs, a snow plow car and a mail crane.

The building symbolizes history, representing twentieth-century railway station designs—an excellent site for all history enthusiasts.

Bayer’s Lake Loop

Next on the list of nature adventures in ​​Musquodoboit Harbour is the Bayer Lake Loop Trail. A moderate route, this 5-kilometre trail is accessible to anyone! The several lookouts within this trail display a spectacular view of the rocky and green terrain. Taking approximately 1 hour to complete, this trail is popular for hiking, running, biking and walking. You will often bump into other hikers on your trip to this busy route! The recommended time to visit is between April and October, as the weather is pleasant.

Musquodoboit Trailway

In the town filled with scenic trails, visit the Musquodoboit Trailway! Beginning at the Musquodoboit Railway Museum, this trail is home to a 130-foot trestle bridge that offers a breathtaking view of the Musquodoboit River. The trail extends along the rocky coast of Bayer Lake, running through huge cliffs and sparkling blue water. Picnic points and washroom facilities are available at three points; 2.6 kilometres, 7.3 kilometres and 12.3 kilometres.
