Foster’s Bawn Lookout Trail

The Foster’s Bawn Lookout Trail is a hiking trail in La Scie. The trail is not very long, but hikers can observe the shoreline, water, and unique cliffs on the shore of Newfoundland. The trail is around 1.6km long and should take 30 minutes to complete.

Hikers are advised to have proper footwear, as the trails could get slippery with moderate climbs and rugged terrain.

Outport Museum and Tea Room

Outport Museum and Tea Room is a unique, small museum and coffee shop. They display many small historical artifacts significant to the region around La Scie, with interactive panels describing the significance of each artifact. Besides the museum, there is also a tea room/coffee shop in the building for visitors to have a snack and a drink. The site offers an amazing water view and is perfect for a nice day.

French Shore Lookout Trail

The French Shore Lookout Trail is a hiking/backpacking trail in La Scie. On the trail, hikers can observe the beautiful natural surroundings, and in the distance, whales and fishing fleets can be seen in the water. The trail is around 14.8km long and takes approximately 5 hours to complete. Although long, the trail is not particularly challenging, and the path is relatively flat and well-maintained.

Island Cove Park

Island Cove Park is a public park located in the center of La Scie. The park is available for camping, RV camping included. Around the park, there are a variety of walking trails, including the French Shore Hiking Trail. The park faces the water, and visitors can spot whales and a large variety of birds around the area on certain days.

Iceberg Alley

Iceberg Alley is a section of many large icebergs off the coast of La Scie. La Scie is located on Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula, where many large icebergs are. Some icebergs can be observed right on the shore of La Scie; however, to have a full viewing experience of Iceberg Alley, visitors can boat out to see the icebergs up close.

Harbour View House

Harbour View House is a scenic observation location located on the port of La Scie. The house has an amazing view of the entire area around La Scie and appreciates the region’s unique landscapes. Visitors can also view the water and, if lucky, may be able to see some whales in the distance. The spot is well-known for viewing sunsets, as the sunset is extremely beautiful over the water.

Harbour Round Lookout

Harbour Round Lookout is a hiking trail to a lookout overlooking the shores and coastline. The trail is very short, around 0.2km long. The path is an amazing walk to observe different species of birds and the unique environment in the area.

The trail is a steady climb up the rocky shoreline of Newfoundland, and as the entire trail is boarded, it is appropriate for visitors with no proper hiking footwear. At the top of the lookout, hikers can see far off into the ocean and may even see some whales in the distance if lucky.
