Cold Lake Museums

The Cold Lake Museums are four museums located on the former site of 42 Radar Squadron, locally known as “Radar Hill.”

The museums include the Cold Lake Air Force Museum, Oil and Gas, Heritage and Aboriginal Museums. Visitors enter the Air Force Museum first, then proceed through a covered hallway on the upper level to the other three museums.

Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake

In 1952 a Royal Canadian Air Force base was established in Grand Centre (now Cold Lake South). This facility is now the largest jet fighter base in Canada.

Iron Horse Trail

Alberta’s Longest Trail System

The Iron Horse Trail, a recreational trail situated on a former Canadian National Railway line.

It has its easternmost terminus in Cold Lake.

The trail is located in east-central Alberta in Canada. The 300 km-long, multiuse recreational trail is used by all-terrain vehicles, by horses, mountain bikes, hikers, and snowmobiles, depending upon the season.

Janvier Gallery

Alex Janvier is a world-renowned Indigenous artist. Janvier is known for his unique curved lines and use of bright colours.

He has created art in many mediums throughout his career, and his murals enhance public buildings across Canada. Two of his most famous works are “Tsa Tsa K’e” and “Iron Foot Place.” He has accumulated many accolades throughout his career and still paints every day, even at almost 90.

Baywood Park and Cabins

Baywood Park and Cabins has multiple cabins surrounding a small park, wooded areas, meadow hills, and marshland.

Cabins are available year-round. There are 47 RV sites with fire pits and picnic tables. Additionally, across the road from the park, they allow people to ride the private marinas on Cold Lake. There are also many large green areas where people can take pictures and enjoy playing sports.
