Drake House

Built in the 1890s, Drake House is a designated heritage structure and Arnold’s Cove’s oldest standing residential building. Initially home to generations of the Drake family, the wooden building facilitates an interpretation center and community museum. It represents the community and town’s evolution, especially during resettlement.

The house continues to largely retain its original interior and exterior structures with minor updates as needed. The historical photographs that fill the central doorway narrate the building, its environment and its inhabitants’ story in time. Exhibits displaying crafts like knitting and original furniture like a trunk of papers and old patient medicine bottles demonstrate Arnold’s Cove’s lasting talent and culture.
