Refuge Pageau

Must-see for any animal lover! Refuge Pageau isn’t a zoo; the focus is rehabilitation and education. All of the animals you see are either unable to be released due to different injuries or will be released when they are old enough.

The enclosures are great, and none of the animals look bored or stressed, something you won’t find at 99% of animal attractions). The refuge is built into the surrounding forest, and many birds have made a home here, as well as squirrels and chipmunks.

Cathedrale Sainte-Therese-d’Avila

This cathedral will catch your attention the moment you are nearing Amos. You can see it from most points near the town.

The Cathedrale Sainte-Therese-d’Avila is a huge and exciting building.

Amos, vue du pont couvert, 1923

This cathedral would be a place of interest for those who like architecture. The history that you can find inside is pretty cool. There are detailed placards to show much it would cost today to build.

Maison Hector-Authier

The former Amos courthouse was built in 1922. It was the first courthouse in the Abitibi region, housing the first jail and a registry office.

In 1978, it was converted into an office building, then in 2004, the City of Amos acquired the building.

In addition to being considered the first durable and stylish house in the region, it has now become an interpretation center on the life and work of the man nicknamed the Father of Abitibi.

Theatre des Eskers

The Theatre des Eskers stands out with an original and avant-garde design. The City of Amos is particularly proud of this multifunctional performance hall and its experienced technical team, which are highly appreciated assets by the artistic community. The Theater was wholly renovated in 2014-2015.

With the main mandate of broadcasting professional shows, the hall presents more than forty professional shows and more than 80 different events annually. It can respond to both large-scale shows and intimate productions. A privileged place for professional and amateur artists, the Theatre des Eskers is the place par excellence in the Amos area to promote culture through the performing arts.

Miellerie de la Grande Ourse

The safari to the beehives is fascinating. You can see the bees up close in complete safety! And the interpretation by the guide is excellent. Local products: honey and jams from berries sweetened with honey and locally made soaps.

Cinema Amos

The Cinema is a valuable entertainment service, and this one is perfect and well insulated. The sound is great and loud enough to drown out other people’s snacking sounds. Service with a smile! Lots of choices to snack on in the concession.
