Alberta Avenue Community Center

Alberta Avenue, the name of this neighbourhood, was adopted from the historical name of 118 Avenue, and the community has used this name since at least 1922. The Alberta Avenue Community League was formed this same year, and the current building opened to the public in February 1982.

Drop in for a friendly game of racquetball, compete with friends in the game room, or rent out the Lutz room for a get-together with friends and family.

Paraiso Tropical Latin Market

Paraiso Tropical Latin Market began in the 1980s when Salvadorans fled their homeland during political unrest. With their desire to share their culture with the people of their new home, Edmonton, Paraiso Tropical was opened. Today, this market sells various Latin American products, including hot sauces, chips, beverages, tortillas and grains; a Latin American dream.

The Market also has a kitchen where fresh and flavourful Latin American meals can be ordered or delivered to your doorstep.

Plaza Bowling Co.

Plaza Bowling Co. has been rolling with the character since 1959; it is a 3rd generation family-owned alley. With original wood lanes, slick maple benches and score tables, you will quickly understand why it is the favourite alley in the area. Plaza Bowling Co. loves to host parties, so for larger groups, the gallery strives to ensure everything is ready and prepared on game day.

Batista’s Calzone Company

Stop by Battista’s Calzone Company to enjoy the neighbourhood’s famous hand-made, from-scratch Italian calzones. With ten different calzone flavours, each calzone is made from homemade, tender dough from scratch. Fresh tomatoes are cooked with herbs and spices, and 100% Canadian mozzarella cheese tops it off and is baked to a golden brown. No wonder it is a neighbourhood favourite!
