History

Reverend Thomas Hughes, inspired by Uncle Tom’s Cabin novel felt a calling to be a missionary to the escaped slaves in June 1959 and along with his son built the first Anglican Church in Dresden.

Our antique cupboard contains a picture at the time it was built, a picture of the Rev’d Thomas Hughes, his bible and original prayer books are also included, as well as his diary.
